Gleanly

Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 18, 2026. This policy covers Gleanly as it is today. It will be updated before any advertising or purchases are turned on, and the changes will be clearly noted here.

The short version

Gleanly is a free daily puzzle. We don't ask for your name, email, or an account. We don't sell your data. We don't use third-party trackers or cookies.

What stays on your device

To save your progress, your stats, and your light/dark choice, Gleanly uses your browser's local storage. That information stays on your device and is never sent to us. You can erase it at any time with "Reset my stats" or by clearing your browser's site data.

What we collect

Anonymous puzzle results. When you finish a puzzle, the game sends one small, anonymous record to our own server (same website, no third parties) so we can show friendly comparisons such as "Only 30% grew this one on their first try." The record contains only:

It contains no name, no account, no user ID, no device ID, no cookie, and no IP address, and it is not linked to any other record. Each puzzle is sent at most once from your device. We store no date or time with it. To keep the service from being flooded, our server counts how many results arrive for each puzzle each minute (just a number, nothing about you), and briefly holds a scrambled, daily-changing code derived from your connection in memory to limit how often requests can arrive; this code is never written to storage or logged. Results are stored in a Cloudflare D1 database.

Comparisons appear only once at least 30 people have finished that puzzle; we never show made-up or sample numbers. When you run out of chances, the game may look up those comparisons but records nothing.

If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal, the game sends nothing at all.

Hosting. Gleanly is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Like every website, our host may briefly process standard technical information such as your IP address and browser type to deliver the site and keep it secure. That is governed by Cloudflare's privacy policy. The game loads no third-party scripts, fonts, images, or analytics.

Advertising (not active yet)

We may later show a single ad after you finish a puzzle, and offer an optional short ad in exchange for an extra hint. Before any ads go live we will:

Purchases (not active yet)

A future optional one-time "Supporter" purchase may remove ads and unlock the puzzle archive. Payments would be handled by a payment processor, and we would never see or store your card details. This section will be completed before purchases launch.

Children

Gleanly is family-friendly and collects no personal information from anyone, including children. The anonymous puzzle results above cannot identify anyone. If ads are added, we will configure them to meet child-privacy laws such as COPPA, including child-directed settings where appropriate.
